Climative’s CEO, Winston Morton, has been selected to speak at Canada’s clean technology event, Smart Energy Vancouver 2024, November 5-6, in Vancouver, British Columbia. The event has been held for twenty years and brings together organizations and innovators who are leading the way to a net zero future.
Winston will lead a breakout session titled “Transforming Retrofit Markets with Prosumers: Breaking the Boom-and-Bust Cycle” on November 5 at 11:20AM.
What is the session about?
While rebates can incentivize retrofits in the short term, they don’t create long-lasting engagement or momentum. There are key moments—mortgage renewals and property sales—where building owners are highly motivated to improve property value or reduce future operating costs. These moments offer a 50x opportunity to start conversations about low-carbon transitions, something traditional rebate models are missing.
“Prosumers” (informed and proactive consumers) can lead the charge in driving energy retrofits by initiating projects and serving as influencers in their networks. These individuals can be pivotal during key moments like mortgage renewals and time of sale—times when both financial and environmental motivations align.
