Boston Welcomes Canadian Startup Climative to Leading Cleantech Hubs

Boston, Massachusetts, June 26, 2024  — Climative, a Canadian-founded cleantech company, has been accepted to Greentown Labs and the Cleantech Open Northeast 2024 cohort. These two significant milestones are cornerstones of Climative’s expansion into the Northeast U.S. residential energy market. Their AI-powered home energy assessments address an urgent need for governments, utilities, and financial institutions to engage homeowners to hit net zero targets.

Boston is home to the world’s most robust cleantech hub, so earning the support of Greentown Labs and the Cleantech Open Northeast means Climative is backed by world-class mentorship to broaden its impact across the U.S. Membership to the Greentown Labs incubator gives Climative access to all of its virtual and on-site support resources and places it among other up-and-coming climatetech companies. Participation in Cleantech Open Northeast’s 2024 cohort means the rapid development of a U.S. go-to-market strategy with the assistance of highly connected mentors.

“There is a massive stock of old buildings here in the northeastern U.S. and throughout the world that could be made more efficient with new technologies or materials, but adoption isn’t on pace to meet our climate goals,” says Sam Crum, Director of Membership at Greentown Labs. “Climative is solving this exact problem by providing tools to retrofit these buildings and help owners realize the financial benefits of doing so. Greentown is thrilled to welcome Climative into our member community to support its development and expansion in the U.S. market.”

“Cleantech Open Northeast is all about uplifting startups with business tools needed to put their promising technologies into action and more immediately solve the climate crisis,” says Olivia LaRoche, Program Manager at Cleantech Open Northeast/NECEC. “We don’t look for teams that have it all figured out – we want strong minds with breakthrough ideas and a lot of potential so we can give them that go-ahead. Ventures like Climative embody these qualities, and we are so glad they are part of this year’s startup cohort. Cleantech entrepreneurs inspire hope in our mentors, partners, and staff that together we can create lasting positive change for our planet.”

Climative joins the Boston climatetech community with a strong Canadian client base and status as a leader in accelerating the decarbonization of buildings by creating a low-carbon plan for every home. With substantial industry expertise and a reputation for technology excellence, Climative will leverage the support of Greentown and the Cleantech Open Northeast to bring data-driven decision-making to the region’s energy leaders.

“There’s never been a more exciting time at Climative, and the need for this technology has never been greater,” says Winston Morton, CEO. “It’s challenging to drive citizen climate action without having a meaningful conversation with every homeowner. Machine learning allows us to quickly create personalized energy/carbon ratings and upgrade recommendations – up to 1 million per day. This conversation-starter is a powerful way to introduce homeowners to the benefits of energy-efficiency upgrades: comfort, lowered operating costs, reduced carbon footprint, financial incentives, and more.”
